Hello confidant,
Today I am bringing you my favorite players for the 2020 football season and forming my fantasy football team of the year. This list was decided based my favorite players based on their average draft position (ADP). I always think of fantasy players in terms of value, and I find these players most valuable at their ADP.
Quarterback: Drew Lock, DEN – I’m starting off with a statement pick. I chose Drew Lock for my favorite quarterback this year for multiple reasons: he has so many weapons, coaches and GMs believe in him to surround him with said weapons, his defense will give up points and require them to play from behind, and he’s basically free. You can pick up Drew Lock in almost any league. Drew Lock is a lock to finish in the top 15 quarterbacks this year.
Running Back: Josh Jacobs, LV – Josh Jacobs is not a sexy pick, but he will get the job done. He will likely pick up work in the passing game and serves LV’s bell cow (which we all know are far and few between these days). He is a very safe pick in the middle to end of the second round in most leagues.
Running Back: Antonio Gibson, WSH – The idea that Gibson could potentially get a majority of the work in the run game and catch the rock on a bad offense screams boom or bust. I’m willing to take that risk at his ADP.
Wide Receiver: DJ Chark Jr., JAX – Jacksonville will be playing from behind in 16 of their games next year and Chark is their best receiver. Any questions?
Wide Receiver: Tyler Boyd, CIN – Tyler Boyd is another safe pick. There’s nothing sexy about him, but he will provide a nice safe floor with Cincinnati utilizing both the pass and run game to keep defenses on their toes this year.
Tight End: Hayden Hurst, ATL – Austin Hooper played lights out the first half of last year and overall had a good season. There’s not many reasons to think Hayden Hurst, who is talented and will get the bulk of the work at tight end for Atlanta, won’t perform to his ADP. And quite frankly, even if he busts, he doesn’t cost you much. Pair him up with Gesicki or Herndon and let your league mates waste their prime picks on a flier.
Flex: Will Fuller V, HOU – Without DeAndre Hopkins, Will Fuller thrived and I believe that was no fluke. Expect more target share and a nice safe floor for a guy you’re drafting as a flex or even bench player.
Defense/Special Teams: Buccaneers D/ST – The Buccaneers defense not only ended the season strong last year, they finished in the top 10! A nice young core with some good sack numbers means this defense will be one to potentially scoop up after they play New Orleans on Sunday.
Kicker: Wil Lutz, NO – The Saints got very luck on some drives last year. Jared Cook found a way to get open. Mike Thomas just doesn’t drop the ball. On the other hand, Kamara also didn’t get into the end zone much, but it’s not like they were on the 1 yard line that often with their big play potential. I believe that great offense is still there but defenses will try to make the Saints prove themselves in the red zone this year. Regardless of what I just said, I believe Wil Lutz is a lock to score top 5 in kicking again this year.
